Wei-Shan Hsu

　　From a novice who joined the club for Cyberfair competition to a contributor of the website, I underwent unexpected changes and learned lots of skills. Before doing research, my knowledge of monument restoration was ostensible, but through a semester of information collection, interview, survey, and website design as a process of learning, I not only had a clear understanding of the technique, but also realized its importance to the preservation of cultural heritage. If this technique does not exist and then continue, then our descendants would not be able to learn the beauty of our culture and history. Even though we encountered with many problems due to lack of experience, we still managed to overcome them with our enthusiasm. I really appreciate my hard-working teammates, our fantastic teachers, as well as this special opportunity through which I widened my horizons. Moreover, I sincerely hope that this project can let more people see the beauty and importance of monument restoration and pass it down from generation to generation.

　　When I first joined the CyberFair club, I felt like I was a novice who knew nothing about the club. However, with other teammates’ assistance to help me to figure out what the CyberFair is about, I started feeling I am really get into this project.  I understand it requires a lot of integration of studies and researches to reach to the final result we have completed. In this CyberFair competition, our team chose to study how to preserve and repair the ancient Taiwan cultural monuments. From this project, we learnt the monuments would be destroyed or ruined by either natural disaster, environmental changes, or by human force. After the interview with the professional monuments repairing teams and their hard works, I realize that there are people who work hard to try to protect and restore these historical monuments.  I also understand what the repairing program is. In these six months’ research for this competition, our teammates spent the time wisely to compile all the information we gathered and accomplished the website design. I want to send my appreciation to the teachers who spent time to answer our questions about the specific technologies that we did not know, and I also want to thank all the teammates who have sacrificed their holidays and their break time to do the works. This CyberFair competition brings me a chance to know the importance of protection of the historical preservations and to learn the knowledge for how to restore them for which I cannot learn from the textbooks.

　　This is my second year attending the Cyberfair competition. In comparison to last year, I can say that we are a cohesive group since all of us had put effort into every aspect of this project, including finding the topic, planning the plot, doing research and field interview, and finalizing the data. In addition, every member in our group was willing to express his or her opinion whenever needed- we are aiming for the best Cyberfair project. For the sake of completing our project, we not only carried out a field interview in the Red House but also carried out a spot investigation to search for the monument on one of the mountains in Xindian, the place where we used to go during our mountain climbing training years ago. I could still recall the day when we wore our alpine cap, mountaineering pole, and mountaineering suit that our hiking shoes almost soaked into the mud as we marched to search for the monument. It was a freezing and rainy day, but we helped each other as usual. I hope that our project could allow people to have more knowledge about monument restoration and treasure the cultural heritages we have.

　　Participating in this cyberfair leaves me a deep impression. At the very beginning, everyone was so confused about the tasks. Progressively, we worked together to search for our topic and divide tasks of researching among all the group members. When working on the project, we often failed to arrange our time, so we had to do part of the tasks together at school and finished the rest at home by ourselves. Therefore, conflicts occasionally arose when it came to splitting the task. Nonetheless I learned that’s how a team works. Everyone  should not be working alone but to cooperate to complete the research altogether. Throughout the process of this cyberfair project, I learn not only the knowledge and problems about monuments but also to coordinate with people. I’m grateful to our teacher whose friend is expert in the fields of repairing historical monuments; with his assistance, we were able to accomplish our tasks with much less effort. At last, I also want to thank all of my teammates for participating  this event together and I learn a lot about cooperation.

　　When I participate in the cyberfair competition, there are things that make me feel upset and confused but after time goes on, I have learnt a lot from this experience. In the beginning, I don’t understand  what is the competition is about, but when team members and I start working, I had soon realized that joining this group is not only about finishing the work, further more, it is about learning how to work with others efficiently, and  most importantly, it is about how to prepare ahead for schedule.

　　I have learned a lot when I participate the International CyberFair Contest. When I first joined the club, the teacher shared to us various amazing website  from past years. The design in every website were very delicate and it’s clear that how much effort they put in. I am responsible for research and editing the film. At the beginning, I struggled to start the first step but thankfully, I found reference books in library. I learned that if try out best, there were nothing that we can’t achieve. At the same time, I have learned to communicate and organize works with our teammates. Also, I realize the importance of ancient monuments, and it is necessary to restore monuments.

　　This year's cyberfair is an unforgettable experiment for me. At the beginning of the project, we have difficulties finding our topic. We searched on tons of websites, and we looked at the work from previous year. Finally, we found the topic about monument reparation. Although we had no background knowledge about it, we found the importance of reparation in Taiwan Culture. Throughout the entire project, I learned not only about monuments in Taiwan, I also learned skills like interviewing company, building websites, editing video, and team corporation. One difficulty I faced was we had few times in school to meet up to do the project. We had to spend our free time doing the work. We didn't communicate well.

　　When I was viewing the projects that the seniors have done, I was just thinking it as a huge researching project. I’ve never thought that in order to make it successful, good, and perfect have to put in this much effort. The topic of monument restoration, we are not just aiming for letting more people see the process of preserving Taiwanese history, also we want to understand our country more through the research. In addition, except for knowledge, I learned other things that I’ve never noticed. For me, research is not just research, it is more like deleting the useless ones and improving the useful information. By keeping the most accurate, most needed information, we wanted to let people understand our topic through the form of website. Of course we had been arguing, had been wishing to give up, but the giving up is not individual. The research is for all of the team members, the teachers and students were all paying out their own time and effort, and this can not be discarded with a little displeasure. I’m thankful for attending the Cyberfair. This kind of complete researching, website establishing, and face to face interviewing, are all new experience for me. It’s my honor to complete this with everyone.

　　It has always been the most beautiful thing to work with teammates that you are  familiar with, and that's why I have been so exciting to work with them as my comrades. From the initial exploration to field investigation and the interview till writing at last, makes me understand how important teamwork spirit is. Due to personal reason, I cannot participate to the completion of the project, and this is my greatest regret! However, with the help of teachers and my comrades, I had the honor to participate in field investigation and the interview. I have seen my teammates working hard, giving out tireless efforts trying to give out their bests to complete our mission through our group chat in Line app, I was ashamed and envious. Even though quarrels and arguments are inevitable, my teammates still accepted the challenge and together, they completed the task. Their spirit became my nutriment under the case of physical discomfort. I would like to tell them I love my partners! Thank you all for your understanding and thank you all for your devotion! I am proud of being a member of our team The Revivers!
