Indigenous doctors in Taiwan

The percentage of indigenous doctors in Taiwan

In Taiwan, not many indigenous people can have a good education because the places they live don’t provide enough facilities for schools and hospitals, and some of them are living in poverty, so governments of Taiwan would provide subsidies for those people, so their kids can go to school for free. The ones who are willing to learn and work hard might get the chance to become a doctor, like Dr.Tian Zhixue, having a high educational background and works as an emergency department doctor.

The cause of less indigenous doctors

As an indigenous person, becoming a doctor is not easy, not only because of how people think of indigenous people but also because of the socialized idea of females during the past. Indigenous people were used to be taken as lower-class people in Taiwan, some maybe because of how they have a slight difference in their looks or their different cultural ideas of art.

Does the Aboriginal Physician Association help improve racial discrimination and rural medical care?

Being an indigenous doctor can let people understand that even indigenous people can do great things like others, and it can probably convince some people to change their point of view. Many indigenous doctors have tried to improve the medication and hospitalization in their hometowns too, to share their knowledge and bring actions to help rural residents.
