走向無痕,走向零

After the research and selection of our topic, we applauded Laiwa company's state-of-the-art innovation of using waste materials to make daily products. We noticed how Laiwa made hangers out of rice husks, significantly showing and contributing to sustainable goals and the advancement of humanity. In addition, Laiwa Company uses various kinds of agricultural waste to produce different items such as sunglasses made from fishing nets, coffee grounds-made hangers, etc. Laiwa Company aims to decrease the amount of waste as much as possible, rejuvenate the waste from agriculture into other products, make waste valuable once again, and give this waste a second life. Laiwa takes the opportunity to promote its core values of "Nature-made things are not always perfect" and "Changing the standard of 'perfect" by introducing imperfection offers in the market. Things made from natural ingredients are not always stable and have a fixed color, shape, or structure; hence, Laiwa Company hopes customers accept the imperfections and flaws of their products for the sake of being eco-friendly. The company's actions prove its willingness to step in the way of eco-friendliness and further promote sustainable development.

Business Experience

As an international trading company focusing on fashion props and accessories, Laiwa decided to design hangers as a starter. Inspired by a wood factory dealer who showed them a straw made from marine waste, Laiwa realized the significance of the materials used in making products. To fulfill client requests, Laiwa works on the development of eco-friendly and recyclable products to this day. Founded in 2020, Laiwa Company has experienced several levels of obstacles, including the pandemic that broke out during 2020. Competitiveness became a huge determining factor as to whether or not Laiwa's merchandise remains in the global market. Knowing about the pressuring environmental issues, Laiwa started investing in agricultural waste used in fashion props. Eventually, they succeeded in maintaining their place in the market and took clients' advice to further improve their products and competitiveness. To Laiwa, selling their products is more than beneficial to their company, so they take part in local markets and exhibitions to promote their products even more. NOKE and AABT were two organizations Laiwa worked with during the marketing of their product in Huashan and Neihu. The two organizations also raise awareness for environmental conservation and sustainability, helping Laiwa further promote their business to the community.

Future Plans and Visions for the Future

During our interview with the CEO of Laiwa, we understood that Laiwa is currently trying to make products out of fabric and clothing fibers to make building materials like tiles. They also aim to keep on investing and focusing on making clothes hangers out of different kinds of agricultural husks and waste materials. They stated that they hope to make more necessities that can impact the environment and become meaningful products. Since AI is a widely used technology nowadays, using AI power tools to contribute to sustainable development would make the process easy significantly. The usage of AI can be used to improve energy efficiency and manage disposals more easily. So far, Laiwa has not used AI to make products, but they have started to use AI-powered tools' ideas or generated images to design new products.

Ceo Introduction :

Harry Yang, the CEO of Laiwa Company adheres to green projects. Through Laiwa Company, CEO Harry has turned the fashion industry into a sustainability industry. By collaborating with companies and clients abroad, the CEO of Laiwa fits the standard of new products to clients' requests accordingly. CEO Harry is someone who takes in lots of responses and applies them to future products. One of their best products is a display rack made from rice husks and fabric. This innovative idea came from businesses and clients asking for display cabinets that were strong, durable, and environmentally friendly. CEO Harry claims that "the hard part isn't looking for materials, but the production and cost of the items." Despite the high prices of recyclable materials, CEO Harry still believes that the environment is the top priority, and should be preserved under any circumstances. Bringing sustainability around us allows for customers' lives to be interconnected with the environment.

One of Laiwa's most popular products is the rice husk hanger. The hanger has a mixed beige color, with a few spots of yellow. These rice husks come from materials dealers who collaborate with local farmers in Chunghua. With the materials, the company then uses FPC Technology to produce the hangers. The hangers' bases come from mixing fine pieces of rice husks with modified powder of bioplastics, allowing the paste to come together. Lastly, the paste is shaped into a hanger. FPC technology builds an advanced process, where no chemical substances are used, is 100% decomposable, and generates no pollution or emissions. The company reveals how the FPC method reduces plastic usage by 30% to 70%, significantly decreasing the waste that will be generated from the hangers. Rice husks are not the only material Laiwa Company uses to produce hangers, they also use coffee grounds. The company's CEO claimed that coffee grounds are much more difficult to handle than rice husks. Since coffee reacts with water and includes some fats and oil, the process of making them dry is much more complicated, which increases the price and the amount of time and effort put into them. Due to the instability and flaws of the items, created in the manufacturing process, the company created a smart alternative where they sell the items with flaws with a discount. This opportunity educated customers on how natural things aren't always flawless, and that we have to accept the imperfect things they bring.

Laiwa Company cares about all aspects of environmental protection, from life on land to underneath; therefore, they designed products that turn nylon fishing nets into sunglasses. Nowadays, people do anything for their financial benefit, often damaging the environment around them. Fishermen use large nets for fishing to sell them for more money. However, fishing nets create serious problems that marine wildlife and animals can't survive. Although marine waste only makes up to 10% of the waste worldwide, the impact on animals they create is still enormous. For instance, the materials used can spread diseases across the ocean, making wildlife suffer. Seeing this issue, Laiwa Company starts by collecting fishing nets from the oceans. Then, manufacturing factories wash and cut the nets into small pieces, and extract the nylon chips. Lastly, they press the nylon chips into a mold of the sunglasses' frame. This design not only saves marine life but also decreases plastic waste. The material used for accessories like sunglasses is mostly 100% plastic, so replacing them with other eco-friendly materials will largely lower plastic usage. As a result, nylon sunglasses can decrease the use of plastic materials, alleviate damage to marine animals, and increase the value of fishing nets. This product connects significantly to a change in the environment because they don't bring any extra waste to the environment and instead take used nylon fishing nets as a material to create more products. By doing so, Laiwa contributes to reducing and decreasing the waste brought to the environment, and at the same time, creates products that are meaningful and may deliver a message to people around the world- reuse waste to make new items, as much as possible.

This is the showcase area of Laiwa company, where they put their products into a display cabinet to make a gallery-like exhibition.

As we can see, there are different objects on the table such as a cute animal stand, clothing hangers, and an orange cup. All those products are made with reused materials; for example, the hangers are made with either rice husks or coffee grains, and the cups are made out of reused plastic waste.

This is a little box that was originally planned to allow users to put their keys and small objects in. However, the product did not come out as successfully as the hangers and sunglasses, so it is no longer on sale.
