Learn by Space Corporation reveals that some rural citizens in Taiwan lack education due to environmental difficulties and the diverse curriculum often affects children’s understanding of particular subjects. Meanwhile, promoting space education to guide children to learn across borders also establishing diverse educational courses through a series of actions. Delivering the importance of the c onnection between education and the environment. In order to achieve this goal, Learn By Space Corporation launched four major categories of activities, which are volunteering at rural areas, teacher support, materials for creation of learning and the seeds of teaching.
Ms. Lin stated that in her opinion creativity is way more important than academic achievement, enhancing children’s motivation in learning and maintaining it is the main point. In addition, they hope that everyone could enjoy participating in their curriculum, regardless of age and background. For instance, Ms. Lin mentioned that she wishes people to have thoughts on the circumstances around them. In conclusion, the core of Learn by Space Corporation is that learning doesn’t have to be academically or having to open your textbooks, it could be full of imagination or creativity, furthermore develop motivation for children to find a passion in learning.
The Learn by Space Association plans to give students a diverse education rather than tests and homework. With the creative and diverse classes of space education, they can let children know that when they are facing a problem, there are multiple solutions rather than only one. The teachers from the Learn by Space Association also want those children to understand the meaning of every design and function, so they can have more creative thinking instead of monotonous cogitation. Meanwhile, they also want to let kids understand the natural environment when implementing space education.
Not only do they teach space education to kids in cities, but they also want to bring this way of learning to the children that lives in remote areas. However, why do they also want to bring space education to those children in rural places? This is because they think that those children don’t have enough confidence in learning, moreover, their future goals will be limited. As for helping those children in remote areas as a base, Space Education also extends four other plans, which include increasing confidence and learning motivation, and the learning gap between city children and children in rural areas.
