Ever since last year’s experience with research and teamwork, I’ve gained invaluable insights about myself and the community we live in. As the team leader of this year’s Cyberfair project, I am honored to have worked alongside my fellow team members to make a positive impact. I believe that advocating for positive change is essential, as it shapes us into future global citizens. This year’s project theme, "Create & Unite," inspired our team to explore deeper into the indigenous groups of Taiwan. We had the incredible opportunity to visit Vox Nativa, an Indigenous school, where we witnessed the power of their voices through song. Hearing their music firsthand broadened my worldview, and our interview with the school’s principal further deepened our understanding of Indigenous core values and cultural heritage. This experience has not only fostered personal growth but also strengthened our team. With new members joining and returning members gaining fresh perspectives, we continue to learn and grow through every step of our journey. I am beyond excited about the research ahead and look forward to working with the team in the coming year!
After staying at Cyber Fair for two years, I have a better understanding of what I should do and how to work more efficiently. However, I still think it is a challenging and complicated assignment. The training from the first year increased my ability to organize my own work instead of confusing myself and panicking because I don’t know what should I do. Moreover, with the experience from my first year at the Cyber Fair, I got to know what topic our team could work on and provide extension ideas for us to discuss. Even though I gained more knowledge and experience after the first year, I still faced some conflicts during our project, which shows me that I still have space for improvement and try better to prevent those problems. I will adopt the lessons and knowledge from the first and second projects and have a greater achievement.
Participating in the Cyber Fair project this year is an eye-opening and unique experience. One of the most significant aspects is to realize the strong sense of community within the Indigenous groups. Their chorus is more than singing – it is cultural unity across generations. Cooperating with my team made everything even more impactful, as we collaborated to highlight these vital local cultural connections. Through the whole project, I realized the value of cultural heritage and the significance of keeping these traditions alive in modern society.
This is my first year participating in the CyberFair. It was a confusing start to me as I did not know what exactly I was doing. Thankfully there were individuals in our group willing to help me out and guide me. I find it interesting when investigating a new topic I would never have noticed before about the history of my nation. Yet the part I am most amused by is the controversy and the perspectives from different primary and secondary sources. While trying to learn the whole event as neutral as possible, I am able to use my critical thinking and reflection skills to criticize the event from my own perspective. I am looking forward to working on similar self-learning-based projects in the future.
Throughout the entirety of 9th grade, I was still figuring out what my interests were, being an individual more familiar with sports, this club was an unfamiliar experience to me, I was struggling with the purpose of my being here and how I contribute towards the team. Initially, I was struggling, failing to communicate with my teammates and watching them being productive while I was being left behind. But towards the end, through the guidance from my teammates, I was able to contribute positively, I realized the most important part of this project was critical thinking, your own perspective matters, and through your own opinion combined with others’, you can drive yourself and your teammates into a more unique and distinct idea. As the semester goes on, I’m thrilled to see how our team develops.
As a second-year participant in the cyber fair competition, there are many similarities and differences that our team faced this year. First of all, our team still followed the same procedure while gathering information and we brainstormed together to find a suitable project for us to do for this year. The difference is the challenges we faced this year compared to the previous year, as there are new rules to adopt. This year we also saw new members of the team, and we taught them the basics of the competition and worked hard together with the whole team in collaboration to create this project. Same as the previous year, I also took the responsibility of creating the website and putting information in, but this year I would also have other teammates to help me with the website making. I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Cyberfair club, and I look forward to learning more from the teachers and from my teammates.
Throughout the year, doing research as a team, investigating community topics around the country, and most importantly, receiving sensations of friendly and collaborative connections with our research subjects and teammates, the memories from elementary school popped up as I was one of the members of the school’s gold prize winning cyberfair team. As my pleasure, I was able to suggest a topic that connected and united the Taiwanese community, inclusive to various ethnicities such as the aboriginal people on the island and their descendants. To my dismay, it was until my interview with students from the Vox Nativa that I’m acknowledged the many struggles of discrimination and ethnic identity is still present to many of the indigenous or mix-raced descendants, which are in fact one of the key push factors for them to join the Vox Nativa. However, from the interview, I was also astonished by their courage and triumph to contribute to the community.
This is the first time I am participating in a Cyberfair, I am new and not familiar with every aspect of the project. Therefore I had to follow other teammates’ steps to be able to catch up with my understanding and know what I should accomplish. My role in this project is basically assisting the team members to finish their survey or research. As an assistant, I can completely get familiar with the project right away by observing others' work. The role enabled me to know what I should do after the interview, organizing myself in the team. I am also grateful that the team chose me to be the interviewer when we interviewed the principal. I can step out of my comfort zone and counter challenges I need to conquer myself. The effort and time we spent on this project are memorable to me and beneficial to me at the same time. I am glad I can enroll in the CyberFair project and am looking forward to applying to similar projects.
This is my first time participating in cyberfair, and creating this cyberfair project is entirely a new experience to me. I am unfamiliar with the procedures of making this project. Thankfully, my teammates supported me and taught me numerous details about what to do in this project. My teammates also helped me in improving my work. I observed and learned the processes of interviewing when my teammates interviewed students and teachers in Vox Nativa. Throughout this project, I practiced my research and self-management skills. My role is to research and create the information for our website based on the research, which enabled me to enhance my writing skills in writing paragraphs when I transfer the information into paragraphs. I found this interesting but also challenging after we started creating this project. I am willing to continue being involved in this team and continue to participate in cyberfair.
