About Dr.Wang
Background information
Dr. Wang Shihao has been interested in mountaineering since he joined the mountaineering club in university. He later became an emergency physician, but because of this impulsive decision, he chose to give up the high working wages and converted to the field of entrepreneurship. Dr. Wang Shihao pioneered the field of mountaineering medical treatment in Taiwan, introduced facilities such as pressurized cabins (PAC), and assisted various people to climb Baiyue. Dr. Wang Shihao used his enthusiasm and expertise in the mountains to help the people of Taiwan to have the opportunity to return from Baiyue safely. Dr. Wang also wrote a book "It's not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves", he not only shares his past experiences. In the meantime, the book also noted the precautions for mountaineering, resulting in more people to understand the importance of mountaineering safety awareness. Dr. Wang Shihao once served as the attending physician of several hospitals, and later joined and founded the Taiwan Wilderness Emergency Rescue Team and Shanyun White Robe Health Consultant Co., Ltd., which has made significant contributions to the field of mountaineering and medicine.
Profession
The main reason why Dr. Wang Shihao converted to an alpine medical treatment doctor because he was trapped in a mountain accident in his past mountaineering experience. Fortunately, he was rescued by a seagull helicopter. After the rescue, Dr. Wang’s father said to him, “Your life was preserved by the country, and once you have the ability, it is necessary to payback to the community". Back then, the general understanding of mountain sickness was not complete. A majority did not understand the cause of the discomfort on the mountain, even physicians only have brief understanding on the discomfort. Therefore, Dr. Wang believes this is the direction that he can work towards in the future. Before being promoted to the treating doctor, Dr. Wang Shihao started to lecture among the medical knowledge of acute mountain sickness. Later, Dr. Wang made a wild and impulsive decision to give up the high waging work and focuses on alpine medical treatment and advocacy.
Achievements
Dr. Wang Shihao has made great contributions to alpine medical treatments. He widely introduced the term acute mountain sickness to the people of Taiwan. When Dr. Wang served as the attending physician, he had already made great contributions to society. After converting to the promotion of alpine medical treatment, he founded the Shanyun White Robe Association. Assisting in planning mountaineering trips, and set the goal of accompanying all ages to mountaineering, so that the elderly and cancer patients can have the opportunity to climb Baiyue. Dr. Wang Shihao also published a book to share his experience in high mountains, so more people can access the field of high mountains medical in a leisurely and interesting way. Among them, Dr. Wang Shihao even installed PAC in Baiyue across Taiwan, saving several lives and eager to achieve the goal of zero death from acute mountain sickness.
