Questionnaire:

The group members dive into the theme of mountaineering from different perspectives, extending from basic mountaineering experience to mountain difficulties and acute mountain sickness. In addition, entering into the discussion of Dr. Wang Shihao, including the goals of Dr. Wang and his association, and emergency medical equipment. We have incorporated various topics into the questionnaire, and hope the questionnaire provides a better understanding of the people’s and students’ accord of mountaineering for us to further analyze.

Analysis of questionnaire results:

A total of 341 questionnaires were collected, of which 340 were valid questionnaires.

Basic knowledge | Mountain accident experience | Acute mountain sickness (AMS)

Analysis of knowledge: Most people have climbed mountains and climbed the Baiyue. However, from the questionnaire, it is possible to indicate that almost no one has climbed 16-20 Baiyue, which means there is a threshold for Baiyue. When it is more than 15 it's harder and harsher, so people who climbed more than 20 Baiyue must be experts or people who have great passion in mountain climbing. Most people agree that Taiwan's mountaineering management is decent, but there is still room for improvement. Most people are capable of fully preparing the required  equipment, and able to overcome the difficulties encountered during the climb. We can therefore conclude that most people have a certain level of understanding of mountaineering, and can avoid many unnecessary difficulties.

Basic knowledge | Mountain accident experience | Acute mountain sickness (AMS)

Analysis of mountain accidents: Most people do not have experience of mountain disasters. Their understanding of mountain disasters is not complete, causing most people to use common sense to infer the way of dealing with mountain accidents and the departments in charge of mountain disasters. Therefore, with the lack of experience, the results we receive can be viewed more objectively.

Basic knowledge | Mountain accident experience | Acute mountain sickness (AMS)

Acute mountain sickness analysis (AMS): Most people have some understanding of the symptoms of AMS even if most have not experienced it. However, the majority only chooses one symptom among all the choices, which indicates that most people do not have a full perspective of AMS. Basically, the general public has a very uniform approach to the treatment of mountain sickness, and believes that taking medicine, rest and withdrawal are the key to curing mountain sickness.
