The Sight Of The Blind -
HuiKuang Guidedog

Project Motivation

What are the essentials blind people need in this community? Isn’t it just ‌ accessible devices for disabled and blind people and their basic living supplies? In Taiwan, there is a group of guide dogs. They are the “eyes for the blinded” trained by associations and professionals. There are only 42 guide dogs in Taiwan. However, there are about sixty thousand blind people in Taiwan. The blind people that own guide dogs (total of 42) stands at less than 0.01% within all sixty thousand blind people. Huikuang Guide Dog Center is one of the Taiwan guide dog associations. They train guide dogs and provide them to blind people who need guide dogs. Through interviewing the worker at Huikuang Guide Dog Center, we can gain further understanding of the significance of guide dogs in the Taiwan community, and how we can use the resources around us to support guide dog associations. As if we can use this chance to make the public recognize more about the significance of guide dogs, and the Huikuang association. We believe that guide dogs may be considered more relevant, additionally receiving more funds from donations. If the public exhausts their ability to help raise more money for either guide dogs or the association, blind people will be able to enjoy convenient living with guide dogs!
