The Sight Of The Blind -
HuiKuang Guidedog

Mina Chiu

The topic of ours is the kind of topic that I haven’t experienced in my life. This year we are investigating the Huikuang Guide Dog Center in Taiwan. Through researching and interviewing the Huikuang Guide Dog Center, I learned the importance of guide dogs and how they are trained. Guide dogs give a chance to those blinders to have more convenience and earn a second eye that may lead them in the correct direction. Last but not least, by creating websites about guide dogs and Huikuang Guide Dog Center, we can urge more people to donate money to the Guide Dog Association. Joining this club made me think of things we could do to improve our surroundings. We should all learn to become ‌responsible citizens, and help others to gain a better life.

This year is my first time participating in the International Cyberfair competition. This year we all chose a topic of interest. After we finished finding all the information and investigating, we went to interview the Guide Center in Taiwan. We all learned a lot in this experiment, we learned how guide dogs train and how they help the blinders. At the end, we collect all the information and put it on the web page we are making. All in all, I think this experiment helped me learn and grow a lot, learning how to organize information and cooperate with others.

It’s my pleasure to join this club and participate in this competition. I learned a lot about guide dogs and their training center Huikuang in this process. I feel that this project is very important to not only blind people but the whole society as well. Our society is not friendly enough to the vulnerable groups. The 4 don’ts 1 do would help if everyone follows it. Overall, I learned a lot in this club and I hope I can help more people.

I am very glad to participate in this International Cyberfair competition. This competition has been very challenging but interesting. In this competition, we first choose our topic for this competition. Then, we explore our topic and interview professionals on the spot. Finally, we collect and organize our information and make it into a web page. Through this International Cyberfair competition, I learned a lot about our topic: guide dogs. I also learned how guide dogs help people in our society. So participating in this club has helped me a lot, and I also help to continue to participate in this competition.

During this cyber fair project, I learned a lot of new skills. Not only about the project we are researching on but also skills like setting a website. This is a special experience for me since we don’t have such a long term project at school. I very much enjoy participating in this project. Although this project cost a lot of time, after getting our final result, the time spent was all worth it.

Participating in this cyber fair project feels different from doing a school project. The process had to be fully organized and should be done in order. There is much more teamwork compared to a short and simple school project. This project trains my communication and organizing skills. Being able to communicate with my teammates is important in creating our website.

This is the second year I participated in the International CyberFair. This year’s topic about protect and unite provides a great opportunity to consider what needs the most caring in our community. Guide dogs are important for supporting blind people, and they give blind people the convenience of living with staying by their owners. The existence of guide dogs did not just give a better chance of living for blind people, but is also teaching about how blind people can also be helped not only with money and technology. This club provided me more space to learn how I should participate in group work and search for information more efficiently.

I am happy to participate in this competition. I learn a lot through the process of gathering information, sending surveys, and interviews. These not only taught me about guide dogs, but they also let me have the experience of doing research with my teammates. This competition is very enjoyable.
