Retirement

After working until the age of 8~10, the trainer will assess the dog's physical fitness and health to decide on whether to retire it. Guide dogs usually retire because of their body’s fitness and health failing because of aging. A retired guide dog can stay with its owner or be adopted by new owners. The owner or owners of retired guide dogs have to take responsibility for the guide dogs’ basic living. The retired guide dog can stay with its owner for the rest of its life to enjoy a comfortable retirement in a loving home.
