The Homeless Taiwan Association is a group of social professionals who assist Taiwan's homeless people. They gathered a few people and formed a website, a charity, and a place for homeless people to rely on. They assist by providing direct support and communication. Direct support includes Self-Supporting Care, female refuge, low-cost housing, and showering bathhouses. Homeless Taiwan Association provides communication support by establishing games and camps such as street guides, homeless experience camps, story-telling activities, and street games. They communicate through activities to help society comprehend what they are doing and who homeless people are. This contributes to the identity of homeless communities so that the next time one sees a homeless person, one will recognize them. This helps create the identity of homeless communities, so that the next time they meet a homeless person, they will not label them as poor people, but will instead provide them with financial assistance and be polite to them. The Homeless Taiwan Association provided significant assistance to the homeless. There are four types of support, stable residence, employment resources, social welfare resources, and interpersonal connections.
First, a stable residence. The organization relays houses equipped with experienced social workers to advise and accompany the homeless. They will also note a low density of single-point admissions, which will help to lessen interpersonal conflict and disputes. Creating a friendly living environment that values equality and respect will increase occupancy willingness, and constantly tracking tenants in the case of leaving the house for self-reliance when they confront challenges.
Second, employment resources. The team will locate jobs and work possibilities that are suitable for each homeless individual. They will accompany and guide them from the interview to the formal start of employment, gradually building their confidence and stabilizing their working situation.
Third, social welfare resources. They will assist elderly, disabled, and low-income cases in obtaining welfare status and basic protection; they will also assist cases in emergencies in applying for emergency aid funds; they will assist in accompanying cases to seek medical treatment, and they will cooperate with medical units for follow-up and health education to prevent minor illnesses from becoming serious status. Finally, link external resources to provide legal consulting services for homeless cases.
Last, is interpersonal connections. They will encourage them to actively participate in community events and will provide possibilities for integration.
