Circular Economy in Taiwan

The Effectiveness of Circular Economy in Taiwanese Environment Conservation Goals

Due to Taiwan have small land size and dense population, the management of waste and pollution become a very serious problem to solve. However, the Taiwan government actively promotes circular economic policy. Nevertheless, some companies lack funding and technology causing the efficiency of energy not to be maximized adequately, leading negative impact on the environment. For example, the Taiwan government is currently promoting reusable sediments to use as a raw material for road construction. Yet, improper process of the reusable sediments, such as those dumped in farmland. This fails to achieve environmental conservation and also imposes a burden on the environment. Taiwan’s circular economy is still in an early stage of development, even though Taiwan has policies that support diversified waste management and focus on managing waste issues, but still has some stagnation due to technical challenges. As a result, it is difficult to effectively achieve environmental conservation goals. However, there is hope that in the future, successful transformation can be achieved, expanding the circular economy throughout Taiwan.
