Development of Circular Eyeglasses Production

Recycling Mechanisms for Traditional Eyeglasses

The raw material for traditional eyeglasses production is not restricted to one, including metal screws, silicone nose pads, and other material. Since recycling items requires separate processing for different materials, most eyewear stores will encourage consumers to return the used eyeglasses back to the store. These stores will conduct more in-depth recycling of these eyewears. However, there is still a certain percentage of individuals who choose to discard the used eyeglasses directly, which such behavior can be burdensome to the environment. Once the plastic frames of eyeglasses enter the natural environment, it can take centuries to decompose. Before biodegradation, these plastics can be accidentally consumed by animals, causing widespread impacts on ecosystems.

Added Functionality and Value through
Circular Eyeglasses

The fishnets adopted in the production of recycled eyeglasses are of nylon material, which has the characteristics of light weight and tenacity. There are still differences remaining between the nylon in fishnets and traditional nylon though, which prompts the manufacturer to adjust the softer fishnets to resemble that of traditional eyewear nylon. When these physical properties are applied to glasses, the glasses are lighter to wear and less likely to be damaged.

Future Prospects for Circular Eyeglasses Products

The company Hibāng hopes to expedite its production process, and promote its product to the international market to raise the consumer awareness towards marine issues. Hibāng also hopes to cooperate with more individuals and expand its team. Additionally, they also hope to apply more material to other products to allow consumers to use eco-friendly products in different aspects of life. These all point to the same goal, which is to allow everyone to focus upon the issue of marine waste more.
