United Nations Goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production emphasizes using natural resources and reducing waste. Creative Tech Textile Company strongly supports this goal by transforming discarded oyster shells with recycled PET bottles into “Seawool”. This innovative fabric is used to produce clothing, including jackets, gloves, flannel shirts, sweaters, and beddings. Our plant is running out of these resources, but the population is still growing. By 2050, if the global population reaches 9.8 billion, humans will need almost three Earths to support our current lifestyle. Creative Tech Textile's approach highlights how innovation and responsible production can raise global awareness and contribute to a more sustainable future. However, responsible consumption is only about production. It also involves how people use and dispose of products. Creative Tech Textile encourages customers to make conscious choices by promoting durable, reusable, and eco-friendly clothing. For example, Seawool jackets and sweaters last longer than regular fabrics, which helps reduce the amount of clothing thrown away each year. By choosing sustainable products, consumers can directly contribute to lowering waste and conserving natural resources.
United Nations Goal Sustainable Development Goal 13 aims to fight against climate change and its impacts by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging sustainable industrial practices. The textile industry is one of the major contributors to global carbon emissions and through innovative textile technologies, Creative Tech Textile addresses this issue by recycling oyster shells and combining them with recycled PET bottles to produce Seawool, a functional and sustainable fabric. By replacing newly extracted raw materials, this process helps reduce carbon production made during resource extraction, the cleaning process, and manufacturing. Furthermore, recycling oyster shells prevents them from being incinerated or disposed of in landfills, both of which release greenhouse gases and contribute to climate change. Transforming waste into high-value textile materials demonstrates how industrial innovation can reduce environmental impact while maintaining product performance. This made a bigger difference through Creative Tech Textile's collaboration with both international and local brands, such as Uniqulo, UDUNA, and Cozyman, which integrate Seawool into commercial products. These partnerships show that sustainable materials can be applied at a large scale within the global industry, helping reduce the overall carbon footprint of mass-produced clothing. As part of our cyberfair project, this research highlights how technological innovation and cross-industry collaboration can support climate actions.
United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 is about protecting oceans, seas, and marine life. Creative Tech Textile helps to reach this goal by recycling discarded oyster shells from local farms and using them to make seawool, an eco-friendly fabric. This keeps the shells out of landfills and oceans, reducing pollution and protecting marine ecosystems. Oyster shells are important for the ocean because shells can provide homes for small sea animals and help keep water clean. By using these shells to make fabric, Creative Tech Textile gives them a new use instead of letting them harm our environment. This process also supports the circular economy, where the waste is reused in a useful way. Seawool is not only good for the ocean, but also durable and eco-friendly. So people can use it for clothing like jackets, sweaters, and gloves. By choosing products made from seawool, consumers can help to reduce waste and support companies that care about the ocean. Creative Tech Textile has shown how businesses can protect marine life while making sustainable products, helping to create a healthier ocean and a cleaner environment for the future.
